WHERE TO LISTEN: TITANIC MEMORIAL STATUE AT WASHINGTON CHANNEL PARK (4TH & P ST.)

Fourth Street and P Street Southwest end at each other. From their intersection, turn down the tree-lined path. At its end, you will find the Drowning Man. A lump of stone in the shape of a man, his arms open in preparation for a fall. Or to fly. Walk to him. Wait. Sit or stand or pace. If you wish, reach up and touch his foot. Place your finger on it like a needle on a record. Listen.
